A flexible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) is a display technology that uses thin, flexible organic materials to emit light when an electric current is applied. Unlike traditional rigid displays, OLED technology allows for the creation of displays that can be bent, curved, or even rolled up, enabling new form factors and applications.

OLEDs are composed of several layers of organic materials sandwiched between two electrodes, an anode and a cathode. The organic layers include an emissive layer that emits light when charged, and other layers that facilitate charge injection and transport. When an electric current is applied, electrons are injected from the cathode and holes from the anode into the organic layers. These charges recombine in the emissive layer, releasing energy in the form of light.


The flexibility of OLEDs is achieved by using thin and flexible substrates, such as plastic or metal foils, instead of rigid glass substrates. This allows the OLED panels to be bent or curved without breaking. Additionally, the organic materials used in OLEDs are inherently flexible, further contributing to the flexibility of the display.
