Synopsis
The global market for Electrodialysis Cells was estimated to be worth US$ 551 million in 2024 and is forecast to a readjusted size of US$ 955 million by 2031 with a CAGR of 8.3% during the forecast period 2025-2031.
Electrodialysis (ED) is an advanced water treatment technology that employs ion-selective membranes to separate charged particles (ions) from water or other solutions under the influence of an electric field. This process is particularly useful for desalination, water purification, and various industrial applications.
Electrodialysis Basic Principle:
Electrodialysis utilizes alternating ion-exchange membranes, which allow cations (positively charged ions) to pass through one type of membrane and anions (negatively charged ions) to pass through another. The system typically consists of a stack of alternating cation (CEM) and anion exchange membranes (AEM) placed between two electrodes. When an electric current is applied, ions migrate towards the electrodes of opposite charge: cations move towards the cathode (negative electrode), and anions move towards the anode (positive electrode).
Asia-Pacific is the largest Electrodialysis System market with about 32% market share. Europe is follower, accounting for about 27% market share. The key players are Veolia, Hangzhou Lanran, PCCell GmbH, Eurodia, FuMA-Tech, AGC Engineering, Astom, C-Tech Innovation Ltd, Saltworks Technologies Inc, Electrosynthesis Company, Innovative Enterprise, WGM Sistemas, Magna Imperio Systems, Shandong Tianwei Membrane Technology etc.
