"Power trowels (also called power floats or trowel machines) are highly versatile pieces of construction equipment designed for heavy-duty concrete finishing tasks. A power trowel consists of one or multiple rotating wheels fitted with troweling blades and protected with safety cages, capable of performing the tasks of a hand float, a darby, and a hand trowel in a single device. The power trowel’s rotating wheels typically range between 24"" and 48"" in diameter.
Concrete power trowels are ideal for applying a floated or troweled finish to freshly poured large concrete floors and surfaces. This includes multi-car garage floors, parking lots, and driveways. There are two types of power trowels: ride-on and walk-behind.
A ride-on concrete power trowel is a large machine, typically fitted with two rotating wheels, a seat on top, and top-mounted controls. The operator sits on top of the device, using the controls to steer and direct the blades over the concrete floor, driving over the entire surface area until it has been fully troweled. Ride-on models are easier to use and more comfortable for vast surfaces, allowing you to work more efficiently.
Walk-behind concrete power trowels are manually operated devices. They typically feature a single rotating wheel and are controlled using a hand-operated handle and shaft assembly. The blades and engine are generally smaller than those mounted on ride-on models to limit the device’s overall weight, making it more maneuverable."
